Music Professor Remembered With Concert

Students, friends and colleagues filled Weaver Chapel to commemorate the life of the late Wittenberg Associate Professor of Music Tom Kennedy during a memorial service, Sept. 30. The service used the beloved professor’s first love – music – to reflect on how he touched lives at Wittenberg and throughout the community.

Musical and personal tributes, including a prelude performance by TOFT (Tons of Fun Trio), which Kennedy formed and in which he participated, captivated those present.

Flutist Dianne Frank Williams ’96 also remembered Kennedy in a letter.

“You taught me far more than how to play the flute,” she wrote. “You taught me how to be something. I salute you. I thank you, and I send you my love.”

In addition, the Wittenberg Symphonic Band, the Kennedy Quartet and the Wittenberg Flute Choir as well the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra, which Kennedy formerly conducted, performed.
