Called “one of the big success stories in American modern dance,” by The New York Times, the nationally recognized Dayton Contemporary Dance Company left a lasting impression during the Witt Series event, Nov. 14, at the Kuss Auditorium, Clark State Performing Arts Center.
Sponsored by Qbase, a global leader in data management, data analysis and strategic consulting solutions now with operations in the Springfield area, the event, titled colôr-ógra˘phy n. the dances of Jacob Lawrence, showcased the dance troupe’s extensive repertoire, which continues to grow each year. Home to the largest collection of classic works from African American choreographers in the world, DCDC blends both classic and new works as it aims to enrich diverse audiences.
“DCDC is vulnerable and impassioned,” said Carol Norris of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “They pull you into their world of spirited dance.”
