Academic All-America Program Recognizes Two Students
For the first time since 1997, and just the seventh time in the 50-year history of the prestigious College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America program, Wittenberg
has more than one national award-winner in the same calendar year. Softball shortstop Sarah Fetters ’08 and volleyball outside hitter Emily Bell ’08 both earned the second-team Academic All-America in 2007, highlighting a banner year of academic awards for Wittenberg teams.
Since the calendar flipped to 2007, Wittenberg student-athletes have picked up six first- or secondteam Academic All-District IV awards, with Fetters and Bell moving on to earn national awards. In addition, more than a dozen student-athletes and four different varsity teams have earned academic awards from coaching associations.
