Special Interest Award in Student Leadership

Criteria: The Office of Student Involvement offers up to five four-year scholarships to students who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, involvement in multiple co-curricular activities, maintained a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and contribute to their groups and organizations through leadership roles.

Amount: $2,500 per year or $10,000 over four years.

Guidelines: Students must submit the Student Leader Fellowship Award application by January 15, write an essay about a personal leadership experience, include two letters of recommendation by someone familiar with the applicant's leadership abilities and, if selected, participate in a scholarship interview. Candidates should exhibit strong academic skills, an interest in creating positive change through leadership, and a sustained commitment to involvement and participation in student organizations.

Expectations: During their four years at Wittenberg, Student Leader Fellowship Award recipients are required to participate in the Emerging Leaders program, attend Student Leader Fellow meetings, initiate an organizational change project, attend leadership seminars, and undertake leadership roles on campus. Student Leader Fellowship Award recipients will both be mentored by Student Involvement staff members as well as upperclassmen Student Leader Fellows. In addition, students must maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA.
