Built in 1982, the Health Physical Education and Recreation Center (HPERC) houses a 25-yard by 25-meter swimming pool, six racquetball courts, three full-length basketball courts and volleyball courts. All facilities are open to students with their ID cards. Special events are also regularly held in the Pam Evans Smith Arena and have included comedians Mark Curry, Carrot Top and Jay Leno, as well as guest lecturers Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, Judy Shepard, James Carville and Ann Coulter.
