One of only 23 institutions in the nation ranked by the Fiske Guide to Colleges for "Small Colleges and Universities Strong in Drama," Wittenberg consistently appears alongside such schools as Julliard, Vassar, Oberlin, Otterbein and Princeton. Students regularly take advantage of the performance and production opportunities available.
A member of the National Association of Schools of Music for more than 75 years, Wittenberg’s Department of Music is one of the university's most active departments as more than 70 percent of students annually enroll in lessons, ensembles or classes during their time on campus. The nationally recognized Wittenberg Choir also goes on tour each spring.
Students' creativity is regularly unleashed in the university's spacious, well-lit studios, where students also have access to equipment specifically designed for their chosen media area. Within short driving distance of some of Ohio's top metropolitan museums, Wittenberg also offers unique options for students to share their artistic talents with the community, including the annual fundraiser Empty Bowls, which has raised in excess of $25,000 each year to fight hunger.
As an extension to Wittenberg’s own arts-rich environment, Springfield’s annual CultureFest, the Summer Arts Festival, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and located at 107 Cliff Park Road, The Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg University houses the Springfield Museum of Art and the Wittenberg Student Theatre, which makes for a dynamic engagement with the arts close to campus.
