General Information
Wittenberg's Semester System - Wittenberg Offers Fall and Spring semesters of 16 weeks each and three shorter terms during the summer session. This system provides ample time for in-depth academic work and courses of high credit value. In many schools on the semester system, a course carries 3 credits; the typical Wittenberg course carries 4 credits. This equals 6 quarter credits - or two courses - in schools based on a quarter system.
Options for Completing a Degree - Most adult students who are also employed full-time take 8 credits per semester, but many options are available. We encourage you to go at the pace that works best for you.
- You can complete 12 credits in a semester or during the Summer Session with only three courses.
- Any student taking 12 credits or more in a semester is considered full-time. This may qualify you for a full Pell grant and/or student loan. Learn more about these opportunities in our Cost and Financial Aid section.
- A student transferring in with an Associate's degree, who takes 12 credits during each of the Fall + Spring + Summer terms, can complete the B.A. or B.S. degree in two years.
- A student transferring in with an Associate's degree, who takes 8 credits during each of the Fall + Spring + Summer terms, can complete the B.A. or B.S. degree in three years.
