Notes - With 1 semester credit equal to 1.5 quarter credits, Wittenberg’s tuition rate equates to $267 per quarter credit.
The $40 admission fee is waived for online applicants and waived by request in cases of hardship.
Miscellaneous course fees apply to certain courses. These fees are clearly listed in the course schedule for each term.
Flexible Payment Options - We have designed our payment system with your needs in mind. The options we offer help our students manage their money for college with maximum convenience and flexibility. First, we do not require tuition payment at registration. Only the $40 one-time new student admission fee is due at that time, and it is waived for online applicants. Once you receive a statement from our Student Accounts Office, you have three options:
Option One - Pay in full, including a student loan check.
Option Two - Pay in installments or in full by the eighth Friday of the semester. Use the amount and frequency of payment that suits your budget.
Option Three - Pay after the term. If you receive either employer tuition coverage or VA benefits, you can choose to defer your payment until the third Friday after the semester. You must complete a Deferred Payment Agreement. Failure to pay by the due date for Options Two or Three will result in a $100 late payment penalty and will trigger a 12% annual percentage rate finance charge. Further registration and official transcript requests will not be honored until payment is received.
Credit Card Payment – You may use MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express credit cards for full or partial tuition payments, as well as books and supplies.
Financial Aid
Grants and Loans - Adults at Wittenberg may receive Pell Grants. Federal Direct Student Loan and other student loans are also available.
Details can be found in our Financial Aid for Adult/Non-Traditional Students page.
Adult Access Award (AAA) - This is a grant funded and administered directly by the School of Community Education. The purpose is to make Wittenberg charges more manageable for students who do not have the benefit of employer or VA benefits. AAA's come in amounts of $85 or $62 or $38 per credit, depending on need, up to 12 credits per semester. The one-page AAA Application takes just minutes to complete, and the review process is nearly as quick. Be sure to check it out.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship - Transfers who are members in good standing of this national honorary society for community college students may qualify for a half-tuition scholarship. This award applies to all terms and is renewable annually so long as the recipient maintains a cumulative Wittenberg GPA of 3.2. The PTK award can be combined with other forms of grant aid to a maximum of tuition and fees plus a book allowance of $100 per course. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application form is available on our Web site.
Tuition Tax Credits - Through this federal program, you may subtract part of your out-of-pocket tuition expenses directly from your federal income tax bill. Consult your tax advisor to see how the credits will impact your personal return.
Each qualified Wittenberg student will receive a Form 1098-T from the university in January. This form is for your records and should serve as a point of reference when you are filing your taxes and completing Forms 8863 and 1040. Publication Release 970 is the IRS document that provides guidance and instruction on how to claim either the Hope Scholarship or Lifetime Learning Credit.
More information is available from the U.S. Department of Education. You may also download the Wittenberg Tax Credit Information sheet to downloadable forms. Please note also that federal legislation exempts from federal taxation the first $5,250 you receive in employer tuition benefits each year.
TEACH Grant Program – The Teacher Education Assistance Program for College and Higher Education (TEACH) provides grants for up to $4000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. A GPA of 3.25 is required. The student must teach for at least four (4) academic years in the low income area or the grant will revert to an unsubsidized student loan. For details click Federal Student Aid.
Yellow Ribbon Program for Post 9/11 GIs - Wittenberg University participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program which will subsidize the amount of tuition and fees not covered by the in-state rate paid through the Post 9/11 GI Bill. For details click here.
