Empty Bowls Feeds The Hungry
Annual Community Event Raises Money and Awareness

Since its founding in 1845, Wittenberg has encouraged service beyond self. It's part of the university's mission, which "...challenges students to become responsible global citizens, to discover their callings, and to lead personal, professional, and civic lives of creativity, service, compassion, and integrity."

Once again, the Wittenberg community is reflecting its commitment to community service by hosting the 17th annual Empty Bowls fundraising event from 4-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in the Center Dining Room (CDR) on the second floor of the Benham-Pence Student Center.

The national event dedicated to fighting hunger in local communities through the use of handmade ceramic bowls, drew a record crowd last year and raised a record amount of money for the Second Harvest Food Bank in Springfield.
