As the official start of the 2012-13 academic year nears, 538 new Wittenberg students are getting a sneak peek at the university's active and engaged learning environment firsthand during four days of friendship-builiding, Aug. 16-19.
From the traditional move-in day, Aug. 16, where dozens of orientation assistants joined with Wittenberg faculty, staff and alumni to unload vehicles and assist families, to a procession across campus to the ever-popular Witt Olympics, new students witnessed at each turn the same personal attention that defined their recruitment experience.
"We hear so often that the personal nature of this university makes a huge difference in the lives of prospective students and their parents," said Karen Hunt, director of admission. "We are again pleased to have attracted so many outstanding students who are sure to enrich our campus."
Hailing from 31 states, the class of 2016 boasts a strong academic profile with an average GPA of 3.4. Additionally, 130 students are members of the National Honor Society, 34 are Martin Luther Scholars and 85 are Provost Scholars. Also of note, 414 students played high school sports.
