Symphonic Band Concert To Be Held At Wittenberg
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--The Wittenberg University Symphonic Band will present its first concert of the 1998-99 season at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Weaver Chapel. Tom Kennedy, associate professor of music, returns to the podium after a years sabbatical leave.

The program will include music by Vaughan Williams, Holsinger, Melillo and Texidor. Featured works will include a symphony based on march themes of John Philip Sousa, and selections from Gershwin's" Porgy and Bess" and the hit Broadway show "Rent".

The performance is open to the public with no admission charge. The Symphonic Band and University Chamber Orchestra invite instrumentalists from Springfield and the surrounding communities to join them in preparation for future concerts.
