University To Install Campus Co-Pastors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio --- New Wittenberg University co-pastors Rachel Sandum Tune and Anders (Andy) S. Tune will be formally installed at a service at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2 in Weaver Chapel.

In addition, Robert L. White will be installed as director of church relations.

The Tunes joined Wittenberg in February after serving as co-associate pastors at Hope Lutheran Church in Annandale, Va. where Rachel served in youth and Christian education since 1990 and Andy was in involved in outreach and young adults since 1995.

The Tunes are the first husband-wife team to serve as university pastors in the institution's history.

White served as youth director at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, a 5,400-member Lutheran congregation in Apple Valley, Minn., for seven years prior to coming to Wittenberg in July 1998. He is a graduate of West Virginia University where he also received his juris doctor degree in 1972.

White has a 25-year old daughter, Cara Pool, a student at the University of Minnesota, and a 20-year old son, Robert, a student at Full Sail School of Communication Arts in Winter Park, Fla.

Rachel Tune is a 1982 graduate of St. Olaf College and received her master's in divinity from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in 1986. Andy Tune received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Riverside in 1980 and his master's in theology from Luther Seminary in 1990, a master's in divinity from Luther Seminary in 1984 and a doctorate from the Catholic University of America in 1994.

Both also previously served Lutheran parishes in Minnesota and Iowa.

The Tunes are the parents of two children, Alison, 7, and Peder, 4.

The Office of Pastor to the University performs a number of functions including coordinating worship services and activities in Weaver Chapel, pastoral care and conducting a Lutheran ministry on campus.
