MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION OPEN HOUSE SET FOR AUG. 16

August 3, 2001

Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University will hold an open house for its new Master of Arts in Education program on Thursday, Aug.16, 2001, at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. Each hour-long session will be held on campus in the Morris Lounge located inside the Wittenberg Student Center at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and West Ward Street in Springfield.

Wittenberg University has been a leader in the preparation of undergraduate teacher education for more than a century. Now teachers will be able to enjoy the same quality coursework at the graduate level.

Wittenberg faculty will be available to discuss the graduate program, which is designed to improve practical classroom results. Another unique aspect of the program are professional development courses, designed in collaboration with working master teachers, which are open to both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking teachers.

Fall classes will examine the place of computers in the schools; understanding, encouraging and assessing thinking; ecological education for teachers; patterns of violence in the schools; alternative and reform movements in education; and applications of multiple intelligence theory. Classes will be held at times conducive to the schedules of practicing teachers.

The open house will provide more information about future offerings including a speakers series and conferences benefiting teachers and their students. To register for classes or obtain a M.A. application contact the Wittenberg University education department at (937) 327-6417 or get information online at grad_mail@wittenberg.edu.

Located just 15 minutes from the I-70/I-75 interchange, Wittenberg University is consistently recognized as among the nation's leading liberal arts colleges for academic reputation and faculty quality.
