Donating blood and local and campus church services

September 11, 2001

Dear friends,

As promised at this morning's chapel, I'm sharing information about donating blood to assist in the relief efforts and information about local church services and opportunities for prayer and reflection.

Our local Community Blood Center has indicated that they will be immediately sending blood supplies we have -- our efforts would be helpful in rebuilding their supply.

An on-campus Bloodmobile is scheduled for Tuesday, September 25th. You can also go to our local Community Blood Center at 2200 N. Limestone (in the office area at the corner of Limestone and Home Road; the same area as Perkins restaurant). You can get a map and more information on their website:

http://www.cbccts.org/donating/cntr_springfield.htm

Their hours are:
Monday - Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.;
Thursday Noon to 7:45 p.m.;
Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
If you are eligible to give (the website also has a guide to assist you), please do so!

If you were able to join us this morning you are aware of the 9 p.m. Weaver Chapel Prayer Service this evening. In addition, area services include:

Tonight:
Christ Episcopal Church - 7 p.m. tonight
409 E. High Street

Central United Methodist Church - 6:15 p.m. tonight
102 W. High Street

Lagonda United Methodist - 7:00 p.m. tonight
2030 Mitchell Blvd

Wednesday night
First Lutheran - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night
Weaver Chapel - 9:30 p.m. Informal Holy Communion

Friday night
Sholom Temple - 8 p.m. Friday night, as part of the Shabbat Eve Service

We will share information about opportunities for discussion and support as well as any additional information about donating blood or other ways that our community can assist as they become available.
