COMMUNITY "MESSIAH" SING TO BE HELD AT WITTENBERG

November 27, 2001

Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University will sponsor the 20th annual Community Sing of George Friedrich Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 in Weaver Chapel.

Basil Fett, adjunct instructor of voice and director of the choir at Covenant Presbyterian Church, will conduct soloists, a community orchestra and chorus in selections from Parts I and II of this choral masterpiece.

Soloists for the evening will include Rebecca Weaver, soprano, Karla Drye, alto, Michael Wright, tenor and J. Chris Moore, baritone. A community orchestra and organist Trudy Faber, professor of music, will accompany the work. Community musicians who would like to perform with the orchestra should contact the music department at 327-7341.

Anyone who enjoys singing is invited to be a part of the chorus. Established choirs are urged to attend together and enjoy this impromptu singing experience with hundreds of voices. Singers are asked to furnish their own complete score.

If you don't feel like being an active participant, just come to listen. What's a concert without an audience?

Although there is no admission charge, persons attending may make a freewill donation to help offset the cost of the performance.
