WITTENBERG HOSTS ANNUAL KIWANIS-WITTENBERG HOLIDAY MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CLASSIC

Springfield, Ohio - It's that time again. The Christmas presents have been opened, and the New Year's champagne is on ice. At Wittenberg University, the Tiger men's and women's basketball teams are hosting the annual Kiwanis-Wittenberg Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29 at the HPER Center. Games for both days are scheduled for 1, 3, 6 and 8 p.m.

Participating in the men's tournament are Baldwin-Wallace College of Berea, Ohio, Marian College of Indianapolis, Ind., Illinois College of Jacksonville, Ill. and Wittenberg. Action gets under way Friday at 6 p.m. as Baldwin-Wallace takes on Marian and the host Tigers clash with Illinois College at 8 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. On Saturday, the consolation game is slated for 3 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's consolation game and the championship contest is slated for 8 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's championship game. Wittenberg has won 15 of the 17 title games in the tournament's history.

Participating in the women's tournament are Calvin College from Grand Rapids, Mich., Mount St. Joseph College from Cincinnati, Marian and Wittenberg. Action gets under way Friday at 1 p.m. as Marian and Calvin square off and the host Tigers take on Mount St. Joseph at 3 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. On Saturday, action opens with the consolation game at 1 p.m. and the championship game at 6 p.m. Wittenberg has won seven of the 14 title games in the women's competition history.
