Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University announces the promotion of Ryan S. Maurer to director of sports information and new media.
As director of new media, Maurer will be more involved in promoting Wittenberg using the World Wide Web, electronic mail and various other "new media" sources. He will work closely with the Office of Public Relations/Publications and Computing Services to promote the university in exciting new ways.
As sports information director, Maurer handles all sports information including publicity, statistics, record-keeping, Web site maintenance and coordination of photography for 22 NCAA Division III athletics teams. Maurer joined Wittenberg in July of 2000 as sports information director.
Maurer brings several years of experience within the field of public relations and sports management to his new position. Previously, Maurer worked as a sports writer with Suburban News Publications in Columbus and later with The Daily Record in Wooster. Before coming to Wittenberg, he held the position of editor for Spectrum Publications and the North Central Business Journal.
Maurer, originally from Toledo, is a 1994 graduate of Miami University with a degree in English Literature/Journalism. He also holds a master's degree in Education/Sports Management from Cleveland State University. Maurer and his wife Heather reside in Springfield with their young son, Joshua.
