Wittenberg Alumna And Board Member Selected As Taft Running Mate

February 19, 2002

Springfield, Ohio - Ohio Gov. Bob Taft has tapped Wittenberg alumna and current board of directors member Jennette Bradley '74, as running mate for his re-election bid this year. Bradley, of Columbus, is vice president and senior public finance director for Huntington National Bank and also serves as a Columbus City Council member, a position she has been elected to three times since 1991.

"Jennette Bradley has a unique background to serve as Lt. Governor. She brings to the ticket significant administrative and legislative experience, and a distinguished career in the private sector," Taft said.

The Columbus Dispatch has described her as "a strong, serious and independent voice" on city council.

"I'm honored and proud to run with Governor Taft," Bradley said. "Throughout my professional career, I've worked hard to represent the interests of everyday Ohioans. As Lt. Governor, I'll be able to expand my focus to a statewide level."

Bradley was extremely active while a student at Wittenberg serving as a peer counselor working with freshman students, a tutor in Upward Bound, a resident hall advisor, a member of Concerned Black Students, the Union Board and a half-time entertainment group called Syncopates. At Wittenberg, she majored in psychology.

She was chosen as one of the Columbus Jaycees' Ten Outstanding Young Citizens and named the Young Career Woman of Ohio by the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ohio.

Bradley and her husband Michael C. Taylor reside in Columbus.
