Internationally Renowned Artist To Host Ceramics Workshop At Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio - The Department of Art at Wittenberg University is presenting a two-day workshop Feb. 26 and 27 on campus with Brad Schwieger, internationally known ceramist from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Schwieger is professor of art at Ohio University, and his work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly, Ceramics Art and Perception, American Craft and many other journals and publications. He is one of the most prominent and prolific ceramic artists currently working in the United States.

The workshop will allow attendees to witness Schwieger throwing and altering vessels on the potter's wheel. On Tuesday, Feb. 26 the workshop will run from 12:45-3:45 p.m., and the artist will conduct a slide lecture that evening from 7- 8 p.m. On Wednesday, Feb. 27 the workshop will be held from 12:45-4:30 p.m. On both days the workshops will be located in Room 1 Koch Hall, in the lower level. The slide lecture is offered on Feb. 26 only in the Kissell Auditorium on the main floor of Koch Hall.

This workshop is free and open to the public. Along with the workshop, an exhibition of work by Ohio University ceramics faculty and graduate students will be on display at the Ann Miller Gallery on the main floor of Koch Hall at Wittenberg University.
