Springfield, Ohio - The Wittenberg Choir, directed by Donald A. Busarow, professor of music, will present a free public concert at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22 in Weaver Chapel on campus.
The choir has just returned from this year's spring tour, during which the 60-voice group performed 12 concerts in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York. In previous tours the choir has traveled across the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe and Russia.
Featured in the concert will be the complex and exciting motet "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied" by J.S. Bach for two choirs and solo octet. A variety of works ranging from spirituals to well-loved hymns will be performed, along with three pieces from the Russian Orthodox Church.
A former Ohio governor designated the Wittenberg Choir "Ohio's Musical Ambassadors of Good Will" for its leading position among the nation's college choirs.
