Springfield, Ohio -
Two student organizations at Wittenberg University, Concerned Black Students (CBS) and Union Board, have teamed up to co-host comedian and actor Mark Curry at 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Wittenberg University HPER Center.
Curry is best known for portraying Mark Cooper on the smash ABC-TV sitcom "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper," which aired for five successful seasons. The show continues to air in syndication, proving to be a huge ratings success for ABC-TV and making Mark one of the most sought after actors/comedians today. He has also successfully managed to make the jump from television to movies, landing a starring role in the feature film "The Fanatics" and "A Man is Mostly Water." He has also appeared on HBO, Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey and Conan O'Brian.
Other credits include hosting "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush" on Comedy Central, a recurring role on "The Drew Carey Show," guest host on Mad TV, and guest star on "Martin" and "Living Single." Curry still manages to find the time to perform his stand-up comedy in sold-out comedy clubs and concerts across the country.
Curry's show is being held as part of the weekly events leading up to Wittenberg's Homecoming. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and tickets will be sold Sept. 30-Oct.10 in the Benham-Pence Student Center service desk or at the door the night of the performance. Ticket prices are $3 with a Wittenberg student ID and $4 for the general public. For more information call the Office of Student Activities at (937) 327-7815.
CBS is an organization devoted to promoting cultural awareness and understanding on Wittenberg's campus and supporting the recruitment and retainment of black students. Union Board is the primary programming body on campus, planning and executing the majority of all entertainment activities at Wittenberg, all of which are open to students and the community at little or no cost.
