Guest Artist Recital To Be Held at Wittenberg University

October 2, 2002

Springfield, Ohio - A free guest artist recital featuring Lyn Ritz, viola, and David Weingartner, piano, will be presented at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6 in Krieg Hall on the Wittenberg University campus.

The program will include "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" by Martin Luther, "Sonata for Viola and Piano" by Dmitri Shostakovich and "Sonata in E-flat for Viola and Piano" by Johannes Brahms.

Ritz is an assistant professor of music at the University of Dayton, where she teaches violin, viola, chamber music and aural skills. She is also an active solo and chamber performer in the area.

Weingartner is organist and choir director at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dayton. He studied organ performance at Indiana University and the Academy of Music in Vienna, Austria. Weingartner is also well versed in the art of organ building and has ten instruments to his credit.
