Wittenberg Student Athletes Play Santa's Helpers for Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Christmas for some Clark County children in need will be filled with a bit more cheer thanks in part to the efforts of the Wittenberg Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Four Wittenberg University greats will be inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Honor during Homecoming weekend ceremonies, Oct. 11-13. Basketball All-American Steve Allison ‘89, five-sport standout Maggie Brandon ’72, former sports information and public relations director Don Perkins (Honorary Class of ’89), and baseball and football standout George Winkhouse ’50 join 127 other athletes who have been inducted over the last 17 years. Professor Copeland Receives Humanities Honor At Wittenberg University
Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University Provost Kenneth Bladh announced the appointment of Warren Copeland, professor of religion and director of urban studies, to the Kenneth E. Wray Chair in the Humanities at the beginning of the 158th academic year. Bladh's action was based upon the recommendation of a group of faculty colleagues from each of the humanities departments. Wittenberg Alumnus Testifies In Washington For More Research
Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University graduate and playwright Dan Stroeh, class of 2001, is accustomed to putting pen to paper and then presenting what he's written to mass audiences. His most recent production was a bit more intimate and clearly more important not only to him but to the thousands like him who have been diagnosed with neurofibromatosis (NF). Wittenberg Increases Efforts To Curb Alcohol Abuse On Campus
Springfield, Ohio - Nationally, campus drinking is responsible each year for an average of 1,400 deaths, which equals four college-aged young adults dying every day as a result of alcohol abuse. According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, more than 500,000 injuries and 70,000 cases of sexual assault or date rape are associated with alcohol misuse on college campuses. With this in mind, officials at Wittenberg University have announced changes in the campus alcohol policy including tougher sanctions for alcohol violations and increasing the students' accountability for the misuse of alcohol, beginning next academic year.
