SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Indira Gibson, a 1995 graduate of Wittenberg University, is set to appear on Lifetime Television's primetime medical drama "Strong Medicine," at 9 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8.
Gibson will play a woman who attends the weekly chat room discussions at the clinic on the popular show, which is co-produced by actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg.
"I like this character a lot; she has a lot of attitude," Gibson said of her role. She also enjoyed the set for the show. "The set is an old hospital, so you feel like you're in the real thing," Gibson explained.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gibson has worked consistently as an actress since graduating from Wittenberg. Her New York theatre credits include roles in "Hair," "Ain't Misbehaving" and "The Legacy," and she has also acted in a number of commercials and industrial films.
Now living in Los Angeles, Calif., Gibson recently added another role to her growing resume, that of director. She is currently directing, co-producing and starring in a play titled Love Games, which will be performed at the Stella Adler Theater on Nov. 22 in Los Angeles. Last summer, Gibson performed in a play that just received an Ovation Award nomination for the ensemble cast.
"It's one of the top honors in Los Angeles," Gibson said.
A theatre/dance major and English minor at Wittenberg, Gibson was active on campus during her college days. In addition to serving on the university's student governing body, Gibson was also elected Alma Mater by students, faculty and staff for her leadership, depth of character, service, high standards of scholarship and concern for the college community. As Alma Mater, Gibson served as symbol of Wittenberg's goals and ideals, and she represented the university at numerous functions.
U.S. News and World Report's popular "College Guide" this year ranked Wittenberg as among the top 100 U.S. Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities. "The Insider's Guide to Colleges," published by the Yale Daily News, considers the theatre/dance department to be one of Wittenberg's top three departments.
