University Recognized as "College of Distinction"

October 2, 2003

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Already part of the nation's best college guidebooks, Wittenberg University has now been selected for inclusion in the newest, "Colleges of Distinction" to be published by Student Horizons, Inc.

In "Colleges of Distinction" 120 top colleges will be recognized for their excellence in four critical areas -- 1) engaged students, 2) great teaching, 3) vibrant communities, and 4) successful futures.

The guidebook will include only 30 colleges in the Midwest, colleges of national reputation and appeal, according to the Student Horizons' announcement.

"Distinctiveness is what these colleges are all about," said Wittenberg provost Ken Bladh. "We are really proud to be included in this new guidebook."

U.S. News and World Report ranks Wittenberg in the top 100 national liberal arts colleges. But unlike that rating system, "Colleges of Distinction will carry four-page reviews of the most important qualities and outcomes of each school as judged by high school college counselors and independent observers.
