Wittenberg Senior Art Majors to Present Work

Jan. 24, 2003

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg University's senior art majors will hold an exhibit of their work at the Java House Café, 117 S. Fountain Ave., from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31. The exhibit will feature several different mediums, including photography, ceramics and paintings under the main theme of "systematic chaos." Light refreshments will be served and there will be acoustic accompaniment from a cellist and pianist.

"We decided that since the seniors were so successful last year, we were going to have it there (Java House Café) again," said Abby Stall senior art major.

The exhibition will run from Jan. 31 to the end of February and is part of the senior major’s coursework. The 15 students have created the exhibit under the guidance of Kevin Salzman, Assistant Professor of Art. The end of the year will see a larger exhibition displayed throughout campus.

Wittenberg students taking part in the exhibit include: Abbey Stall, Mary Czekalinski, Samantha Summerville, Donielle Powell, Rebecca Russ, Shannon Oliphant, Ashley Hill, Brian Fischer, Kevin Longley, Mike Diem, Juneer Kibria, Jessica Villalta, Anna Saaranen, Andi Kramer and Geoff Klimas. Proposals have also been made to the physical plant to improve the area by erecting a ceramic sculpture outside Koch Hall.
