The O.C. Supertones Concert Set For April 21 At Wittenberg University

supertonesSPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Get ready for The Supertones! A rising powerhouse band that is changing the Christian music industry is set to take the stage at Wittenberg University for students and fans in the surrounding communities. A unique style of punk, rock, hip-hop, funk, electric mix of music fun, the O.C. Supertones will bring down the field house on Wednesday, April 21 in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the opening act begins at 7 p.m.

The O.C. Supertones have surprised many with their talent and their recent success. Over the years, the band has had growing coverage from MTV and other media outlets and has sold over 700,000 copies of Adventure of the O.C. Supertones, The Supertones Strike Back, and Chase the Sun. Furthermore, they have been involved with some of the most high profile ministry events in the nation. They have opened for Pope John Paul II, the Rev. Billy Graham and Kurt Warner of the St. Louis Rams.

Weaver Chapel Association (WCA), Student Senate and Union Board are sponsoring the O.C. Supertones' visit to Wittenberg.

"WCA believes that The Supertones is a band that could offer entertainment for our diverse campus and benefit our community. Many students have wanted a band that offered positive lyrics, good music and a fun sound - The Supertones bring this to the table," said senior John Hickey, fellowship chair of WCA.

"Whatever isŠ," a student band on campus, will be the opening act. For several years the band has been supplying music for the Contemporary Worship Service on Sunday nights and was asked to open because it has strived to do something different with its music. Bret Olson '04 of Ft. Thomas, Ky., and a member of the band says, "It's a great opportunity, and I am looking forward to playing for the Wittenberg student body."

Tickets are $5 in advance for Wittenberg students with the proper ID, and $7 at the door, and for the general public tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
