Professors Honored by Regional Education Association

April 26, 2004

Pam Schindler

Lowell Monke
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Two faculty members at Wittenberg University, Pamela Schindler, professor of management, and Lowell Monke, assistant professor of education, were honored earlier this month at the annual Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) conference for excellence in teaching.

The SOCHE event honored 45 faculty from 13 area institutions. Each of the faculty was chosen by their home institution to represent superior academics in higher education in southwest Ohio.

Schindler was the 2003 recipient of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, the highest possible honor bestowed upon a faculty member at Wittenberg.

Schindler is known for her work with the Wittenberg Center for Applied Management (WittCAM) which provides students with the opportunity to act as consultants for not-for-profit and government organizations as well as small businesses.

Wittenberg senior Erin Mowrey describes Schindler as the type of professor who can “see the potential in each student and her expectations show this.”

Monke was the 2003 recipient of the Omicron Delta Kappa Award, which is given to an exceptional teacher who has been a member of the Wittenberg faculty for five years or less.

Students describe Monke as the kind of professor who “makes a difference in students lives by teaching from his heart.”

SOCHE was formed in 1967 and is a regional consortium of twenty-two colleges and universities, progressing higher education through academic collaboration, corporate and community partnerships and student achievement. For more information about SOCHE, visit www.soche.org.
