Senior Art Majors Exhibit Work at Wittenberg University

Senior Art ShowSPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg University proudly presents a final exhibition of work by nine senior studio art majors, with concentrations ranging from drawing and painting, to ceramics, jewelry, computer imaging and sculpture, offering a new perspective of society's young generation of artists.

Each artist will exhibit a conceptual body of work from a particular focus. Vittoria Curl presents a collection of jewelry in sterling silver and gemstones inspired by the forms and colors of nature. Katherine Fairhurst exhibits larger than life purses sculpted from plaster and inspired from fashion design. Jason Jackson presents computer-generated images of Native American animal spirits, which portray the spiritual powers of the animals within the Native American culture. Cristal Moser presents a series of 48 dynamic drawings spanning life within the last year and a half in an expansive visual documentation containing drawings, watercolor paintings and ink work.

Kendra Athy exhibits oil paintings with emphasis on light and shadow and the interesting patterns they create. Kurt Hartfelder presents a series of graphite figure drawings inspired by the classical anatomical studies of the great masters. Andrew Wheeler exhibits a series of hand built ceramic pieces, which focus on the emergence of a figure from an inanimate object. And lastly, Carrie Warvel presents ceramic and silver sculpture inspired by the unique and complex forms and textures of microorganisms.

The free exhibit can be viewed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, until May 15, in Wittenberg University's Koch Hall. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 30. Refreshments will be served.
