Wittenberg Professor Invited to Teach at International Dance Conference

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Shih-Ming Li-Chang, associate professor of theatre and dance at Wittenberg University, has been invited to instruct in Bytom, Poland, at the 11th annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Performance Festival June 27 - July 10.

Chang will teach the Chinese Traditional Opera Dance with a contemporary touch as well as Tai Chi for dancers at the festival.

This Polish festival continues the tradition of presenting the achievements of national and international dance choreographers and of promoting artists and scholars of unique vision across disciplines.

The organization invites a mixture of famous artists and budding innovative groups to showcase a variety of experience in artists and a variety of approaches to dance, thereby serving the growing and changing needs of the dance and performance community.

A member of the Wittenberg faculty since 1986, Chang performs, choreographs and teaches modern dance, jazz, ballet, tap, Chinese folk dancing, dance ethnology, Tai Chi and dance composition.

Chang has also visited China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to interview scholars and collect materials for her instruction at Wittenberg. Currently, she is working on a Chinese dance video production.

In addition to serving as vice president of OhioDance, Chang has been an active participant in many festivals, including American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow, Bates Dance Festival, White Mountain Dance Festival, American College Dance Festivals and OhioDance Festivals.
