SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — It is nearly the golden anniversary of the annual Wittenberg Guild Scholarship Style Show, and organizers are busy preparing for this year’s event, “Style on the Slopes,” which starts with a gourmet coffee and silent basket auction at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in the Benham-Pence Student Center located off West Ward Street on the Wittenberg University campus. The style show begins with a brunch at 11:30 a.m.
Featuring faculty, staff and their children as models, the 49th annual scholarship style show will highlight skiwear and other winter fashions suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. Kaufmann’s of Columbus and Skismith have donated the fashions, and the models will also wear jewelry from Goldesign, Inc.
“We’re really happy to be coming back to campus for the first time in many years, and we’re excited about the fun and unique theme of this year’s show,” said Jade Gianakopoulos, a 1995 graduate of Wittenberg and event chairperson. “Guild members have once again created wonderful theme baskets which feature terrific items graciously donated by area businesses for the very popular silent auction.”
There will also be an additional raffle of a signed, beautifully framed artist’s proof of a limited edition print, Myers Hollow – Wittenberg University, Summer 2002, by local artist Mike Copeland.
This event is the major fund-raiser of the Wittenberg Guild. The Guild has contributed nearly $800,000 to Wittenberg to support scholarships for students from Clark, Champaign, Greene, Madison, Miami and Montgomery counties. The funds have also been used for pianos for Krieg Hall, sculptures and artwork for the Benham-Pence Student Center, renovation of the Ann Miller Gallery and landscaping.
“Style on the Slopes” reservations are required and can be made by calling Wittenberg’s advancement office at (937) 327-7432. Reservations are $25 for the general public and $20 for Wittenberg faculty and staff. Reservations can be made with Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
