SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Concerns about study skills, time management and concentration — three of the many issues that determine student success or failure — led Forest Wortham, director of multicultural programs and the Womyn’s Center at Wittenberg University, to seek a resource that gives students an opportunity to improve their performance.

Wortham joined with Student Senate and Concerned Black Students to invite Gary Cohen, author and speaker, to campus to present “Better Grades in Less Time” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in Bayley Auditorium at the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center.

A motivational speaker and a popular speaker on the college circuit, Cohen addresses ways for students to study better and smarter through an interactive program of multi-media, magic, music and prizes. His message discusses study skills, speed-reading techniques, how nutrition affects study and how to take tests successfully, among other topics.

“When students are successful, it not only translates into better futures for them, it has a positive affect on university retention,” Wortham said. “I encourage professors to make the program mandatory for their classes.”

This will be Cohen’s second appearance on Wittenberg’s campus.
