One Act Plays Open This Weekend at Wittenberg

Student-Directed One Act Plays rehearsed on Tuesday evening.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – From politics to murder mysteries, Wittenberg University’s Department of Theater and Dance offers a variety of one-act plays from Thursday, Nov. 16, through Sunday Nov. 19. Directed by senior theater majors, the performances are free and open to the public.

At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 18, The Open Meeting, directed by Jamie Daugherty, class of 2007 from Springfield, Ohio, and Butleress, directed by Kaleigh Lockhart, class of 2008 from Florence, S.C., will open this year’s one-act performances. Both performances will be shown in Chakeres Theatre.

At 7:30 Friday, Nov. 17, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, The Sausage Eater, directed by Devon Bergum class of 2007 from Northfield, Minn., Exclusive Model, directed by Kat Kalinoski, class of 2008 from Granville, Ohio, and Wanda’s Visit, directed by Seth Masterson, class of 2007 from Plano, Texas will be performed in Blair Hall Theatre.   

In all, a total of 12 plays will be staged fall semester, and approximately 80 students auditioned for the roles.
