SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University’s Center for Musical Development (CMD) is offering winter music classes for children and adults.
Ensemble Playing I, II and III for Children will meet from 5-7 p.m. every Friday between Feb. 2 and March 2. Students must know the literature from Suzuki Violin Book 1. Ensemble Class 1 teaches the children how to play together. Ensemble II will add simple harmonies and dynamics. Ensemble III is for the student playing the Minuets in Suzuki Book I and requires some reading skills.
Beginning Piano for Kids in grades K-2 will meet from 4:15–5 p.m. on eight Fridays from Jan. 19 through March 9. Children will learn to read music and musical notation, find keyboard landmarks and play rhythms for the first time in a group setting. Students will play music of increasing challenge in a state-of-the-art piano lab.
Voice Class for High School and Adults will meet from 7:30–8:15 p.m. every Tuesday for eight weeks beginning Jan. 16. Students will learn how to sing properly, including diction and warm-up exercises.
CMD also offers private instruction in piano, string instruments, wind instruments and Suzuki Violin.
