SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Tammy Proctor, Wittenberg associate professor of history, didn’t necessarily intend to write a book on female espionage and its relation to the First World War. She describes it as “accidental almost.” A situation of happenstance led to the writing of her groundbreaking book Female Intelligence: Women and Espionage in the First World War following Proctor’s research on the Girl Guides, the British equivalent of Girl Scouts in the United States. 
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Inge Williams of Alpena, Mich., Wittenberg class of 2008, was one of 36 Wittenberg students who spent one month of the summer outside her comfort zone. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — When Ellen Peterson, class of 2006 of Ada, Ohio, combined her avid interest in math with the study of peregrine falcons, the end result proved to be extremely successful. Through the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU), Peterson engaged in intense research on the population control of peregrine falcons at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln last summer.

Jessica Seivertson, class of 2005, came to campus knowing she wanted to major in management and that accounting was a career possibility for her. Kirkwood hopes to debunk that image with his exhibit and lecture titled “The Body Image Project: Beauty as a Relative Concept,” which will be held at Wittenberg University Monday-Wednesday, Feb. 13-15.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — When Kimberly Thompson learned of the financial crisis facing Springfield City Schools, including budget cuts to libraries, she was determined to help the community in any way she could. The visiting instructor of English at Wittenberg quickly organized a university-wide book drive for school libraries throughout
Springfield. The drive runs through Feb. 3.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Discrimination damages both its victims and those who discriminate. Although the wounds may not be visible, they are profound, nonetheless. Wittenberg University Associate Professor of Languages and Department Chair Amy Christiansen has organized events that give tangible proof of the effects of discrimination through the works of Japanese American artist Henry Sugimoto (1900-1990).
