The Paul Taylor Dance Company was established in 1954 and has performed to stellar reviews in more than 500 cities in all 50 states and 60 countries around the world. The New York Times described the Paul Taylor Dance Company as "one of the most exciting, innovative and delightful dance companies in the entire world."
Paul Taylor, acclaimed as "the best choreographer in the world" by the New York Daily News, is the founder and director of the company. His choreography has helped develop the genre of modern dance, which can be seen in some of his best-known works, including "Aureole," "Esplanade" and "Promethean Fire."
Taylor, known for his unusual musicality and energetic style, has earned prestigious awards around the world. After starting his professional career with the Martha Graham Dance Company in 1952, Taylor founded his own company two years later.
The Vancouver Sun raved "there's no textbook for how to make dance. But there is, thank God, Paul Taylor, whose body of work is a blueprint that would not steer any fledgling dance maker wrong."
This is the second time the Paul Taylor Dance Company has visited Wittenberg after taking part in the 1992-93 Wittenberg Series.
