SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) will sponsor “An Evening of Art, Entertainment and Enlightenment, a Display of Pioneers in Civil and Gay Rights,” from 9 – 11 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the Center Dining Room, Benham-Pence Student Center.
The event is open to the public with a $2 donation to raise money and awareness for AIDS Resource Center Ohio, a non-profit organization in Dayton that offers support and services to those infected, affected and at risk for HIV/AIDS.
The evening will feature performances by The WittMen Crew and the Wittenberg Dance Team, along with an exhibit of original works by Wittenberg student artists, and a campus-wide, student-created condom art display.
Local businesses have donated approximately $500 in merchandise and coupons for both door prizes and the silent auction. The auction will include all 20 condom art pieces and dinner packages to numerous restaurants, including Applebee's, Golden Corral, Texas Roadhouse and Los Mariachis. In addition, a Meijer gift card, a Wittenberg blanket and a Papa Murphy's Pizza-Pack will be auctioned.
The event is the finale of the 2007 Pride Week festivities directed toward the GSA’s efforts at “Building a More Diverse Campus.”
