The Make a Difference Day Halloween Festival is aimed at kids ages 3-12 and will take place from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Benham-Pence Student Center. The festival includes various Halloween-themed activities, and costumes are definitely encouraged. Many of the volunteers, who will lead the children through the activities, are members of Wittenberg's fraternities and sororities and leaders in the university's Student Senate.
This day of giving is part of the annual nationwide celebration that occurs every year on the fourth Saturday of October. Wittenberg has participated in the celebration for many years, but this will be the second straight year that the day of giving will be Halloween-themed and focused on giving back to children in the Springfield area.
"One of our goals for this event is not only for the kids to have a fun and exciting day, but also to strengthen the connection between Wittenberg and the Springfield community," said student organizer Peri Cohen, class of 2008 from Reisterstown, Md.
To register, visit the Wittenberg Community Service Web site or call the office at (937) 327-7523.
