Oct. 24, 2007

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg Guild presents its 52nd annual Scholarship Style Show on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Center Dining Room in the Benham-Pence Student Center. Chaired by Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Ashley Petersen, class of 2007, this year's show, themed "Fashioning the Future," begins with a joint social hour and silent basket auction at 10 a.m.

The themed baskets are donated by members and friends of the guild. A one-week stay at a vacation home in Lake Lure, N.C., will be auctioned off as well. The luncheon and style show begins at 11:30 a.m. Local volunteer models will don clothing from Macy's at Tuttle Crossing, complemented with jewelry from Goldesign and hair styles by Mallia Salon and Day Spa. Lynn Jacques of Macy's will narrate.

"Fashioning the Future" features a wide range of models, including a Wittenberg student from the African nation of Niger and Wittenberg President Mark H. Erickson. Other models include an eye surgeon, a realtor and several moms who do volunteer work in the Springfield community. The show also features entertainment by a musical trio, the Tons of Fun Trio (TOFT), and a children's ballet company.

The Wittenberg Guild is a women's organization focused on promoting Wittenberg and utilizing its educational resources to enrich the local community, as well as awarding scholarships to students from Clark and surrounding counties who plan to attend the university. Through the years, the organization has raised more than $880,000 for scholarship support, campus landscaping, sculptures and artwork for the student center, renovation of the Ann Miller Gallery in Koch Hall and pianos for Krieg Hall.

Prizes, including a strand of freshwater pearls from Goldesign, a day at Mallia Salon and Day Spa, a silver Pandora bracelet from Pemberely and Plum, and 12 dinners from Dream Dinners, will be raffled off.

The cost of the event is $25 for the general public and $20 for Wittenberg faculty and staff. Space is limited to the first 250 people who register. To make reservations, contact the Wittenberg Office of University Advancement at (937) 327-7432. Checks can be sent to The Wittenberg Guild, c/o Linda Himes, P.O. Box 720, Springfield, OH 45501.
