2007-08 Witt Series Continues As The Second City
Touring Company Visits Wittenberg University

Dec. 17, 2007

Springfield, Ohio – The second semester of Wittenberg University's 2007-08 school year begins with a laugh – lots of them, in fact – as the 2007-08 Witt Series continues with The Second City Touring Company. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre.

Titled "One Nation Under Blog," the program will feature some of the best sketches, songs and improvisations that have made Second City so successful for more than 40 years.

Second City has become the premier training ground for aspiring comedians and actors with performances that appeal to all generations. Described as "a temple of satire" by Time magazine, and "legendary" by The New York Times, Second City is known for its originality, daring performances and hilarity, with many members going on to become cast members on Saturday Night Live.

Second City boasts alumni such as Peter Boyle, Bill Murray, Jim Belushi, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Joan Rivers, Bonnie Hunt, Ryan Stiles, Chris Farley, Rick Moranis, John Candy, Stephen Colbert and a host of other comedic superstars.

Tickets for The Second City production of "One Nation, Under Blog" are free, but general admission seating is limited. Tickets were made available at the Student Center Service Desk Dec. 7.

The Witt Series, formerly known as the Wittenberg Series, brings distinguished lecturers and performing artists of national and international prominence to the campus and local community.
