Ensemble Playing I, II and III for Children will meet between 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, Friday, Feb. 1 and Friday, March 7. Students must know the literature from Suzuki Violin Book 1. Ensemble Class 1 teaches the children how to play together. Ensemble II adds simple harmonies and dynamics. All classes meet in Krieg Hall Room 305. Parents are encouraged to attend classes, which cost $22.95 (plus $5 registration fee for new students) with their children.
Beginning Piano for Kids offers students an opportunity to learn to read music and musical notation, find keyboard landmarks and play rhythms for the first time in a group setting. Students will play music of increasing challenge in a state-of-the-art piano lab. Classes for children in grades K-2 will take place every Thursday between Jan. 17 and March 6 from 5:15-6 p.m. Classes for children in grades 3-5 will take place the same days from 6:15-7 p.m. All classes will meet in Krieg Hall Room 301. The cost is $100.
Beginning Piano for High School and Adults offers small group instruction to learn to read music, musical notation and rhythms. Classes meet every Friday between Jan. 18 and March 7 from 7-7:45 p.m. in Krieg Hall Room 301. The cost is $100.
Voice Class for High School and Adults teaches students how to sing properly, including diction, breathing and warm-up exercises. Classes meet every Tuesday between Jan. 15 and March 4 from 7:30–8:15 p.m. in Krieg Hall Room 306. The cost is $100.
CMD also offers private instruction in piano, string instruments, wind instruments, voice and Suzuki Violin. In the spring, classes in computer composition for high school and adults and discovering music for children ages 3-5 may be offered.
