Wittenberg Graduate, IBM Vice President Michael Flood
Returns To Alma Mater As Executive-In-Residence

Sept. 8, 2008

Michael Flood
Springfield, Ohio — Michael Flood, class of 1984 and current vice president for strategic sourcing for IBM, is the Wittenberg Management Department's first Executive-in-Residence speaker of the 2008-09 school year. His presentation, titled "Positioning Yourself on the Path to Career Success in an Ever Changing Global Roadmap - Reflections from an Alumni's 25-year Planned & Spontaneous Career Meanderings," is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Bayley Auditorium in the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center.

Flood's presentation will reflect on his professional career and offer insights to the students in the audience. Flood is spending part of his week with Wittenberg students, sitting in on class sessions and sharing his experiences with invited students and faculty at a dinner following the presentation.

The Executive-in-Residence program, funded as part of an Ameritech-endowed program and managed through Wittenberg's Center for Applied Management (WittCAM), offers opportunities each year for students to get firsthand accounts of what it takes to thrive in the business world.

Flood's primary responsibilities at IBM are business optimization, transformation and strategic sourcing practice for the company's American Distribution Sector, a $3.2 billion business. His other responsibilities include organizing IBM's Southwest Ohio & Northern Kentucky business region operations, which includes oversight of 640 employees.

Flood received his bachelor's degree from Wittenberg in biology, and he minored in history and psychology.
