Wittenberg Choir Presents Annual Variety Show Sept. 19-20

Sept. 17, 2008

The Wittenberg Choir presented a HymnFest at Cleveland's famed Severance Hall on Nov. 4, 2007.
Springfield, Ohio — The Wittenberg Choir, directed by Professor of Music Donald Busarow, will take the stage for its annual Wittenberg Choir Variety Show twice during 2008 Family and Parents Weekend. The show is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20, in Krieg Hall.

The event has been organized by the Wittenberg Choir, headed by the organization's president Jackie Upleger, class of 2009 from Sterling Heights, Mich. The performance will showcase the talents of the members, including individual acts, small group numbers and songs by the whole choir.

Not only does this showcase the talent of the members of the Wittenberg Choir, it shows the members in a different light as an assortment of music is used to display their many talents. This is a break from the norm, as typically the Wittenberg Choir sings a variety of more classical or religious styled songs.

Among the 2008 Wittenberg Choir Variety Show highlights are a version of "Be Our Guest" from Disney's classic animated motion picture and Broadway stage presentation of Beauty and the Beast, which is the opening number. The closing number will be a version "The Bear Necessities" from another Disney classic, The Jungle Book.

Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults. All proceeds go to cover the expenses of the annual Wittenberg Choir Tour during Spring Break. This year, the tour heads to five states, including Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio.
