Interaction between faculty and students is prevalent in Wittenberg's Department of Education. |
The lowest in the central Ohio region, the new rate immediately applies to all new and current M.A.-related courses, including credit hours paid through various grants. The new rate also gives interested teachers a proven option for enhancing their professional development as well as the learning experience of their students.
"Our goal is to offer more relevant courses to more teachers," said Robert Welker, professor of education and director of graduate studies in education. "In so doing, everyone wins - particularly K-12 students. Helping them grow socially and academically is ultimately the reason why we all are here."
For more than a century, Wittenberg has been a leader in undergraduate teacher education. Thanks to the M.A. program, practicing teachers can now enjoy the same high quality of course work at the graduate level. Designed for select numbers of practicing P-12 teachers, the program seeks to develop teacher leaders who can improve instructional practices through research and reflection, and who are both willing and able to share their professional knowledge with colleagues. The program expressly fosters the habits of inquiry necessary to investigate programmatic options directly affecting student learning. Graduates are required to complete a substantial project that has relevance to classroom needs.
Convenient evening and weekend classes are available, and courses range from teacher leadership and renewal to the caring, high-touch e-learning alternative, and best lessons, best ideas. To learn more or to obtain an M. A. application, contact Wittenberg's education department at (937) 327-6417 or via e-mail at grad_educ@wittenberg.edu.
