Wittenberg Department of Music October Calendar Filled
With Recitals, Concerts And Events

Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University's Department of Music continues its packed concert calendar with an October filled with concerts, recitals, and events.

The first event of the month is the Guest Artist Recital featuring the Oracle Trio at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Krieg Hall. The Oracle Trio was first founded in 2005 and performs celebrated classics of the chamber music literature, as well as contemporary music. The Trio, made up of April Johnson (violin), Peter Seidenberg (cello) and Kate Boyd (piano), made their first debut at the 2005 Heidelberg New Music Festival.

Immediately following the Guest Artist Recital, the Oracle Trio will host a master class at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, also in Krieg Hall.

The first event of the month in Wittenberg's historic Weaver Chapel is the Symphonic Band Concert conducted by Brandon Jones, assistant professor of music. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.

The year's second General Student Recital is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Krieg Hall.

Finally, the Witt Series-sponsored Festival Choral Eucharist for the Reformation takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, in Weaver Chapel. Pre-service music by the Wittenberg Choir, the Wittenberg Handbell Choir and the Wittenberg Brass Choir begins at 7 p.m.
