Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University's Campus Ministries welcomes The Northern Skies, a Michigan-based acoustic folk-rock band, for a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in Ness Auditorium in Hollenbeck Hall. The concert will be followed by a worship service with The Northern Skies and Wittenberg's Worship Music Team.

Members of The Northern Skies describe their style of music as "acoustic folk-rock with teeth." The band has been performing approximately 60 shows per year, and in 2007, The Northern Skies opened for comedian Mike Birbiglia on his Comedy Central Tour of City Opera House in Traverse City, Mich. The band also performed at the 2009 Arts, Beats and Eats Festival in Pontiac, Mich.

The Northern Skies has produced four albums. The most recent, titled Northern Skies, reflects each the four seasons in their home state. The spirit of each month is captured in what is described on the band's Web site as an "eclectic style and diverse instrumentation, an American sound with incorruptible independence."

The event is free and open to the public.
