The Senior Etiquette Dinner is a fun and informative event that was created to prepares graduating seniors for typical "business dinners." A collaboration of Wittenberg's Office of Alumni Relations, the Senior Class Cabinet, WittPath Career Services and the Office of Student Activities, the Senior Etiquette Dinner was attended by 102 members of the Class of 2009 and 12 representatives from sponsoring organizations and businesses. Wittenberg’s alumni board and local businesses and organizations, including Cerium Group LLC, The City of Springfield, The Dayton Alumni Panhellenic Association, Martin, Browne, Hull & Harper and Sweet Manufacturing, sponsored individual tables at the event. In addition, Springfield City Schools Superintendent Don Thompson was in attendance.
Etiquette Consultant Cathi Fallon was the guest speaker. She guided the guests through each part of a typical business meal, from the hors d'oeuvres to the dessert, and even covered the best way to leave the restaurant. She began by having all guests stand and mingle, as she provided tips on how to hold conversations while balancing things such as a plate of hors d'oeuvres, a napkin and a beverage.
As the guests were served, she led them through how to eat each course of the meal appropriately, starting with soup and continuing through courses of salad, sorbet, chicken parmesan, bread and dessert, all while holding appropriate business conversations.
