Rachael Hatcher
Softball (4/23/07 - NCAC): Sophomore Rachel Hatcher (West Carrollton, OH/West Carrollton) hurled the first no-hitter in Wittenberg softball history last week, as the Tigers went a perfect 6-0 in NCAC play. She went the distance in a 6-0 victory over Oberlin, allowing just one baserunner on an error in the second inning. She was 3-0 on the week, tossing a pair of complete games and allowing 11 hits and six earned runs in 16.2 innings pitched. Andrew Wellman
Baseball (4/16/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior Andrew Wellman (Huntington, WV/Huntington) drove in the winning run to lift the Tigers past nationally ranked Transylvania, 3-2. He capped his 5-for-5 evening with an eighth-inning single that completed a five-run Tiger rally to clinch the come-from-behind victory. Wellman reached base six straight times, adding a walk his totals. He also finished with one run and a double to his credit. Gabe Savage
Men's Outdoor Track and Field - Middle Distance/Distance (4/2/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, OH/Tri-County North) placed third the 1500 meters at the Cedarville. Amber Cupples
Women's Lacrosse (4/2/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg junior Amber Cupples (Wooster, OH/Wooster) scored three goals in each game of the Tigers' 1-1 week. She added two assists in her team's 19-2 defeat of Fontbonne to give her eight points for the week. Cupples leads Wittenberg with 14 points and nine goals through five games. Sarah Fetters
Softball (3/27/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg junior Sarah Fetters (Maumee, OH/Maumee) went 12-for-22 (.545) over six games last week. From her leadoff spot, she scored eight runs, collected seven RBI and hit the first two homers of her career - in game two against Transylvania (a 10-0 win) and in game two against Heidelberg (a 6-1 win). Lucy Huelsman
Softball (3/20/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior Lucy Huelsman (Wellington, OH/Wellington) hit safely in all four of the Tigers' games last week. She finished the week 6-of-11 (.545) with six runs and six RBI. She dinged her first career grand slam in an 8-0 run-rule shortened victory over Baldwin-Wallace and also slammed a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 7-6 victory over John Carroll. Tim Gates
Men's Lacrosse (3/20/07 - NCAC): NCAC scoring leader Tim Gates (North Canton, OH/Hoover) scored twice and dished out four assists as Wittenberg upended Oberlin, 12-7, in the Tigers' North Coast season opener. Click here to see complete list of 2007 NCAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week. |

Erik Larkin
Men's Indoor Track - Field Events (2/11/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg sophomore Erik Larkin (Cincinnati, OH/Country Day) was second in the triple jump at the All-Ohio meet with a leap of 43 feet, 6.5 inches. Nicole Bailey
Women's Indoor Track - Field Events (2/11/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg junior Nicole Bailey (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) won the long jump at the All-Ohio Championships with a provisional
qualifying leap of 17 feet, 9.5 inches. She also took first in the triple jump (35-9.25), and was second in the 55 meters (7.40). Her time in the prelims of the 55 (7.36) was a meet record, later broken by the winner in the finals. Gregg Hill
Men's Basketball (2/4/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg sophomore Gregg Hill (Redford, MI/Union) scored the Tigers' last four points inside the final 10 seconds of the game to seal a thrilling, 74-71 victory over first-place Wooster. Hill finished with a team-best 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including 3-for-3 from three-point range. He opened the week with a 14-point peformance in an 87-40
win over Earlham. Overall, Hill hit 11-of-19 (.579) shots from the field, including 5-of-8 (.625) from three-point land, and a perfect 8-of-8 from the line as he totalled 35 points. Click here to see complete list of 2006-07 NCAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week. |

Gina Carney
Women's Basketball (1/14/07 - NCAC): Wittenberg's Gina Carney (Lexington, KY/Catholic), a 5-5, senior guard/wing, paced the Tigers in wins over Hiram, 71-41, and Earlham, 70-40. She provided a spark off the bench against the Terriers, hitting all five shots from the field, including a quartet of three-pointers, and finishing with 16 points to go along with two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Dane Borchers
Men's Basketball (12/4/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg's Dane Borchers (Russia, OH/Russia), a 6-8, senior post, scored a career-high 33 points to lead Wittenberg to a 100-85 triple overtime
victory over Denison. Borchers hit a jumper with five second left in the first overtime to extend the game, then he took over the third, and final, extra period, scoring 12 points of his points to hand the Tigers the victory. Tristan Murray
Football (11/13/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior tailback Tristan Murray (New Carlisle, OH/Tecumseh) broke a school record with his ninth consecutive 100-yard rushing game. In a 35-0 decision over Hiram that gave the Tigers a share of the North Coast title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, Murray rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns. Meghan O'Rourke
Women's Soccer (11/6/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg junior goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) turned away six Denison shots, including a pair from close range in the second half, to lead the Tigers to their first NCAC Tournament championship. By registering a pair of shutouts in the tourney, she broke the school record for career shutouts with 31, topping the total of 30.5 that Sarah Newlin, the 1995 National Player of the Year, achieved in the Red & White. Sara Pirozzi
Women's Soccer (10/23/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg freshman Sara Pirozzi (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) scored the OT game-winner in a 1-0 win over Earlham and then added the second goal in a 3-1 win over Oberlin. Click here to see complete list of 2006 NCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week. |

Matt Borland
Men's Soccer (10/23/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg sophomore Matt Borland (Kettering, OH/Alter) scored a goal and added two assists in a 4-0 win over Wabash and then scored twice, including what would prove to be the game-winner, in a 3-0 win over Hiram. He also added an assist against the Terriers to finish the week with three goals and three assists. His offensive output moved him into a tie for the team lead with 13 points. Katy Barrett
Field Hockey (10/23/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior forward Katy Barrett (Powell, OH/Watterson) scored three times last week, including a pair of overtime game-winners, as the Tigers improved to 5-0 in overtime games this season. Wittenberg defeated Denison, 2-1, and Oberlin, 3-2, both in overtime, and secured a home game in the NCAC tournament semifinals. Emily Bell
Volleyball (10/16/06 - American Volleyball Coaches Association): Emily Bell, a junior outside hitter from #15 Wittenberg, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. Bell led the Tigers to four wins last week, posting double-doubles in all four victories. Bell's best match of the week came against Ohio Wesleyan, where she tallied 18 kills, her high for the week, with only two errors in 32 attempts for a .500 percentage; she added 17 digs in that match. Her high in digs for the week came against Heidelberg, when she collected 29 in the five-game win. For the week, the Tiger junior averaged 4.5 kills per game at a .415 clip, and 5.6 digs per game. Tristan Murray
Football (10/15/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior tailback Tristan Murray (New Carlisle, OH/Tecumseh) rushed for 156 yards on 35 carries, and added another 33 yards on three receptions. Joe Swanson
Football (10/2/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior linebacker Joe Swanson (Germantown, OH/Valley View) paced the Tiger defense in a 24-21 win over previously undefeated Wooster. He finished with seven tackles, including two for a loss, one of which was a sack for a nine-yard loss. Adam Hewitt
Football (9/24/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg senior safety Adam Hewitt (Piqua, OH/Lehman Catholic) finished with 12 tackles, two sacks, two fumbles recovered, one fumble forced, one fumble returned for a touchdown and a kickoff returned 69 yards to set up the Tigers' second score in Wittenberg's 42-24 win over Alma. One of his sacks resulted in a fumble forced, which he recovered and returned 23 yards for a touchdown. That score tied the game at 21 just before halftime. Jan Kehres
Volleyball (9/24/06 - NCAC): Wittenberg junior Jan Kehres (Alliance, OH/Alliance) had three aces in a 3-0 defeat of Wooster, then had three more aces with 15 kills and 24 digs in a four-game win over Baldwin-Wallace. Katy Barrett
