After falling behind early, the Tigers batted around in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs and setting the tone for the evening. In each of the first six frames, the Tigers touched the plate at least once, including on leadoff solo home runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Third baseman Stefan Kegler (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) crushed the ball on his three hits, driving in a pair, while scoring twice himself. Seven players in the original nine of the batting order got at least two hits as the Tigers pounded 17 on the evening.
Not to be outdone, the pitching staff kept the high-octane Saints at bay most of the evening, as sophomore Zach Spring (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) collected the win in four scoreless innings of work.
Wittenberg travels to Bexley, Ohio for a midweek meeting with the Capital Crusaders on Thursday, April 2, with a 4:30 p.m. opening pitch.
