Wittenberg Records Commanding Victory Over Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers recorded their fourth shutout of the season as they defeated Kenyon 5-0. The Tigers dominated the game from start to finish as they continue to put big numbers up on the scoreboard.

The Tigers' first goal came at the 26-minute mark when senior Blair Ufer found the back of the net. Six minutes later a strike from junior Julia Wickham put the Tigers up 2-0 going into the half.

In the second half Wittenberg continued its dominance over Kenyon. Freshman Sadie Mummert scored quickly off an assist, from senior Sarah Wallace, to start the second half. A Wittenberg penalty shot gave Ufer her second goal of the evening and sophomore Katy Barrett scored an unassisted goal to give Wittenberg it's final goal, leaving the score at 5-0.

Defensively the Tigers controlled the field and shutdown Kenyon's offense. Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Irvin played an outstanding game to record the shutout. The phenomenal defensive play of senior Ashley Smith, and the rest of the team, assured that the Tigers will improve in NCAC play.

The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday as they continue conference by play hosting Ohio Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
